PC of Decatur
The Pilot Club of Decatur was chartered in 1971, and has been serving the Morgan County communities for over 51 years. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 801 Jackson Street, 6:00 PM. We focus our energy toward community awareness and prevention of brain related disorders, supporting those living with those disorders and their caregivers. We work towards making our community a safer and better place to live.
In 2006, we partnered with the Morgan Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur Police Department to bring Project Lifesaver to our community. Project Lifesaver provides rapid search response for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome and other related cognitive conditions.
We support Pilot International’s signature Brainminders program designed to teach safety to children and adults by presenting the Brainminders program in schools, church's, senior centers and Senior Care Facilities.
Each month in our meetings, we prepare a “Pick Me Up” project for different organizations in our area. We have collected cleaning supplies, blankets and hygiene items for NARCOG, prepared Valentine Tea Trays for Special needs teachers aides, taken snacks and treats to the Police and Sheriff’s department and supported Hands Across Decatur and the Community Action Center. We also provide bicycle helmets for resource officers of schools across Decatur. Our main fundraiser is our Annual Golf Classic, which community golfers look for forward to every year. Pilots know how to put on a golf tournament!
We support our Alabama Pilot District Traumatic Brain Injury Camp each year sending campers to Camp ASCCA, work with the Bill Stewart Center in Moulton, support the ARC of Morgan County and purchased Stem Cell Bundles for Special Need Students in Decatur City Schools.
We are always looking for a “few good Pilots”. Come and join us for Friendship and Service.
